snapshot-20060113 i686 and x86_64 test results

William Cohen
With the RHEL4-U3 Beta systemtap translator (systemtap-0.5-0.EL4) and
kernel (kernel-2.6.9-27.EL) available I got some kernel crashes.

Kernel panic on smp kernel on x86_64 on:

Running ./systemtap.maps/si.exp ...

kernel panic on up kernel on i686 on:

Running ./systemtap.maps/ix.exp ...

I ran the tests with a snapshot of systemtap translator and did not
run across the problems, so the problems seem to be related to the
Systemtap Translator. Below are the current test results with the
snapshot.

for RHEL4-U3 i686 UP

FAIL: ./systemtap.maps/ix.stp unexpected EOF
FAIL: syscalls-run (597)

                 === systemtap Summary ===

# of expected passes            119
# of unexpected failures        2

kernel version: 2.6.9-27.EL
systemtap translator version: version 0.5.2 built 2006-01-13

for RHEL4-U3 x86_64 SMP

FAIL: ./systemtap.maps/ix.stp unexpected EOF
FAIL: syscalls-run (274)
FAIL: ./systemtap.stress/current.stp startup (timeout)

This test has FIXME's in it, presumably because at the time it was
written the pmaps were broken in the translator.  As of my checkin last
night, pmaps should be in a better state.

I've seen this too, but I'm not sure why it's happening.  If I run the
test manually, it's fine.  It may just be my limited skills in 'expect'
hacking - I invite anyone else to please take a look...
