You can, but if it is only you, then I am going to be lazy and say no.
If however you can drum up a few more contributors/users who also want
a point release then I will take the hint and make the release.  OK ?

Building from the branch is fine, but having a new release from the branch is
not convenient, because it changes the soname of the shared libraries.  So when
updating across a release from a binutils branch, I usually revert the soname
bump to not break (still existing) dependencies on the old soname.
